Most visitors to the site will automatically be asked if they want to install our app, but some browsers and devices will not do this, and some visitors may not see the message, so these instructions inform you how to install the SentLive app on your device. Please refer to the tabs below, and do the following:
Please contact us if any of the information below is inaccurate, or if you have (or have not) been able to install our app on any browsers, so we can update our information.
Our recommended browser for Android is Google Chrome, but some other browsers can also be used.
Chrome has worked perfectly on every Android device that we have tested and is our recommended browser. Click the ‘Install’ button at the bottom and follow the instructions.
Edge has worked flawlessly in our tests. You should have been prompted to install the app, but if you were not, please click the ‘Install’ button below.
In our tests with Brave we found that the automatic install prompt does appear, and clicking on ‘Install’ does as expected, but please let us know what happens on your device. The app can alternatively be installed by following the instructions below:
1. Once SentLive has loaded, click the three dots in the bottom right corner of the screen;
2. In the list that appears, find ‘Add to Home screen’ and tap it;
3. A box appears with our logo and an ‘Install’ button – tap ‘Install’;
4. Close Brave;
5. After a few seconds the SentLive icon will appear on your phone, normally after all your other apps – tap the icon and our app will open;
Please note that, as far as we know,, push notifications do not work on this browser, which can impact your use of SentLive
Our tests for Vivaldi on Android showed that both the automatic prompt and the ‘Install’ button click both work. Please let us know if it works (or not) for you, either automatically when you first visit the site, or by clicking the ‘Install’ button below. Additionally Vivaldi has an ‘Install App’ option available when tapping their logo in the top right of the screen and scrolling down.
With Opera the automatic prompt and click ‘Install’ works but does not properly install on Android, installing as a bookmark rather than an app, although that doesn’t have much, if any impact. Please let us know your experiences with this browser.
We have had some issues with Firefox, notably that the automatic option does not appear, and clicking the ‘Install’ button does nothing; however, please let us know if it works (or not) for you. If it doesn’t, then please follow the instructions below:
1. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner of the browser screen;
2. In the list that appears, find ‘Add to Home screen’ and tap it;
3. A box appears asking “Add to Home screen?” with instructions – simply click ‘Add’ at the bottom;
4. Close Firefox;
5. After a few seconds the SentLive icon will appear on your phone, normally after all your other apps – tap the icon and our app will open.
As of June 2023, iOS users with iPhones or iPads running version 16.4 or above can install the SentLive app using whichever browser they normally use by opening the browser menu, clicking the Share option, and then ‘Add To Home Screen’ (Safari is very slightly different, see below); for users on older versions of iOS, Apple do not allow any other mobile browser except Safari to install Progressive Web Apps, or clicking an ‘Install’ button to do so, so please follow the steps below:
1. Once SentLive has loaded, at the middle bottom of the screen you will see the icon shown ;
2. Tap the icon, then scroll down until you see something like the image shown (this varies depending on iOS version);
3. A new screen then opens with ‘Cancel’ and ‘Add’ options at the top of the screen, and the SentLive logo and the text ‘SentLive – Simple, Smart, Safe’ and address. Below that in small text it should say ‘An icon will be added to your Home Screen so you can quickly access this website’. Tap ‘Add’ and the browser will close and the SentLive app should open; if it does not, close Safari and you should see the SentLive icon somewhere on your screen. Tap the icon and the app will open.
iOS Users
Please also see this article regarding the known current issues when using SentLive on an iOS device.
Our recommended browsers on the Mac are Chrome and Safari which both offer the automatic install app prompt and will respond to the ‘Install’ button click below. It is not necessary to install the app on desktop or laptop to get the full SentLive experience, and every browser listed below can run the site with no problem.
The default browser for many on a Mac works perfectly in the installation of the app as stated above.
Chrome has worked perfectly on every MacOS device that we have tested and is our recommended browser. Click the ‘Install’ button at the bottom and follow the instructions.
With Opera on Mac the automatic prompt and click ‘Install’ works as expected. Please let us know your experiences with this browser.
We have not tested Edge for Mac but as it seems to behave very similarly to Chrome we anticipate that it will work properly on Mac as well.
Firefox has not worked at all in our tests, and this is apparently the case for any PWAs; however, please let us know if it works (or not) for you. If it doesn’t, there is a method by which to install PWAs, but it is not for the faint hearted, as it involves installing a Firefox extension AND additional software to make it work. For those of you keen to get your hands dirty, you can find the extension at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/pwas-for-firefox/ and there are full instructions on installation. While Firefox is a great browser in most respects, it is not with regard to PWAs. However using SentLive in just the browser is not a problem.
In our limited tests with Brave we found that the automatic install prompt does appear, but clicking on ‘Install’ does not do anything, but please let us know what happens on your device.
Please note that we have been informed that push notifications will not work on this browser.
We have no information on this browser at present as it is not an ‘official’ app on the store. Please let us know if it works (or not) for you, either automatically when you first visit the site, or by clicking the ‘Install’ button below.
We have not been able to test this ourselves, but everything that Microsoft has previously stated about web apps and feedback from others suggests that Edge should work flawlessly.
Chrome has worked perfectly on every Windows device that we have tested and is our recommended browser. Click the ‘Install’ button at the bottom and follow the instructions.
Opera works but does not properly install on some devices, installing as a bookmark rather than an app, and so far we have not tested in Windows. Please let us know your experiences with this browser.
In tests on other devices we have had some issues with Firefox, and we suspect that this may be the case on Windows as well; however, please let us know if it works (or not) for you, either automatically when you first visit the site, or by clicking the ‘Install’ button below.
In our limited tests with Brave we found that the automatic install prompt does appear, but clicking on ‘Install’ does not do anything, but please let us know what happens on your device.
Please note that we have been informed that push notifications will not work on this browser.
We have no information on this browser at present. Please let us know if it works (or not) for you, either automatically when you first visit the site, or by clicking the ‘Install’ button below.
We have only been able to test a few operating systems, due to time and cost, so we apologise if yours is not here. If you have tried to use SentLive on your system, and it has either worked or not, please let us know the details so we can update this information. Please try the ‘Install’ button below to see if that works for you.
We have no definite information as we have not tested any older Windows installations, but please try and let us know. We would recommend Google Chrome though, as this has worked well on all devices we have tested.
We have no definite information as we have not tested any Linux or similar systems, but from our experience we think it is likely to work with Safari and any Chrome based browser. Please let us know of your experiences so we can update this information.
